S:t Martin
Idag firade vi S:t Martin's day här i Westerhofen.
We celebrated S:t Martin's day here in Westerhofen today. What the saint did to deserve a day I was not able to catch from the priest's speach, but it was something about giving clothing to poor people. However, we started in church were the kids performed a little play and after that we all went out in the dark. All the kids lighted up a small lantern and then we walked the streets singing. Under the beautiful star covered sky it felt like a very nice tradition. The kid songs made echos around the houses and our little parade made it through the whole village. The night ended with a fairytale from a knight on a horse and mulled wine outside the church.
Stars, warm mulled wine, hundreds of lanterns an homemade cookies. Simply, not too shabby.
